China saw lead-acid battery imports at 596,400 plieces in January, a month-on-month decline of 33.75% buta year-on-year rise of 8.29%，according to China Customs.

Of total imports, ignition battery accounted for 213,900 pieces, gaining 1.65%, and other types of btteries claimed 382. 500 pieces, down 44.55%, both on monthly basis. Top fve importers were Zhejiang Johnson Controls, East Penn Intermational (Mujiang) Battenes, FAW-Volikswagen. Automotive, Hitachi Storage Battery (Dongguan) and BMW Biliance Automotive. Zhejang Johnson Controls contributed 29 29% in total ignition battery imports, the top one importer.

Other types of batteries were mainly used in UPS system and backup power for communication equipment Fundamental construction suspended gradually in January before coming 2016 Chinese New Year holiday, weighing on demand for such types of btteries.
