China is sil lacking in qualfied and effective lead-acid battery recycling system at present, Zhang Tlanren pointed out, one of China NPC representaives and President of Board of Directors at Tianneng Group.

China witnesses more than 3.3 million tonnes of scrap batteries per day while qualifed recycling rate is less than 30%. The amount of llgal dumping of lead-containing waste acid increased from 99,500 tonnes in 2008 to nearty 270,000 mt in 2014. The recycling rate at Chinese disqulfed smelters is lower at 809%-85% with highest level not exceeding 90%, but usually 95% in foreign countries.
